Why industry players are so bad with AI naming conventions?


If someone were to ask you is MxNet a framework or a library, what would be your answer? It depends. Here is why. On GitHub, it is called a deep learning framework but on the MxNet website, it is called “Library for Deep Learning. We can get into a discussion on what defines a framework and what is a library. But this is not the point. The problem is people are not consistent with terminology and it is creating a lot of confusion.
