A good example of persistence paying off is Jack Canfield, the co-author of the bestselling book “The Chicken Soup for the Soul®”. The first time he and co-author Mark Victor Hansen went to New York, they visited with about a dozen publishers in a two day period with their agent, and nobody wanted it. But they did not give up, they kept going to publishers for another couple of months. It was rejected by another 22 publishers and then their agent said, “Sorry boys, I can’t sell it.” The project appeared to have stalled until they met Peter Vegso, the owner of a small health and wellness publisher in Florida named HCI.
