Have you ever left your smartphone at home and feel uneasy about it throughout the day at work? How many of us have opted to use the navigation apps on our smartphones instead of the navigation system in our cars which we paid a lot for? I know I’m not alone. According to a new report from App Annie, smartphone owners are using 9 apps per day, 30 per month. We are so dependent on our smartphones as it has become an important part of our life.
So what makes me think the smartphone is the biggest opportunity for Artificial Intelligence (AI). How often you run into something and you don’t know the name of it? Wouldn’t it be nice if you can point the camera on your smartphone to the object and it will come back to you with an answer or a name? And how many times you see something you really like and you want to find out where you can buy it? What would happen if you can scan the object with your smartphone and the apps will generate a list of places where you can buy it?
