Crisis Resolution

As the strike continued with no resolution in sight, the shortage of fuel had forced factories and small businesses to closed down. Roosevelt realized that it is time to take action before it is too late.

The first thing he did was to assembled a crisis management team with members from inside and outside his administration — Governor Winthrop Crane of Massachusetts, Secretary of War Elihu Root, Postmaster General Henry Payne, Commissioner of Immigration Frank Sargent, Pennsylvania’s Senator Matthew Quay, Labor Commissioner Wright and Attorney General Knox. Read More...
