Not too long ago, a high-tech company was about to hire a senior person from a Fortune 500 company. All went well except for one thing. And it was not about money. The candidate wants the CTO title, but it has already been taken. They can’t remove the CTO title from the other person, so they offered the candidate a different title — Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) to close the deal! Sounds familiar? This is very common, especially with startups in the high-tech industry, as it is very hard to find qualified and talented people.

Many of us are probably used to hearing corporate titles like CFO (Chief Financial Officer), CIO (Chief Information Officer), CTO (Chief Technology Officer), and COO (Chief Operating Officer).
