Writing Is Not Just About Speed

A writer’s job is more than just writing. In his new book, Caro spent a lot of time explaining why it takes him so long to produce his books. Robert Caro took seven years to write “The Path to Power.” Caro himself is a fast writer but the research takes time. It takes time poring over documents and interviewing people to get the facts and uncover the truth. He is not alone. It took Adam Smith over 25 years to write “The Wealth of Nations.” Like Caro, a lot of time was spent on research.
